Mayer Fabrics

Overview

Mayer Fabrics needed more than a new Web site. They needed an online solution that communicated a heritage of more than 110 years while serving as an attractive and necessary tool that provided a positive user experience for interior designers, furniture manufacturers and government contractors.

Problem

To design and develop a Web site, from the ground up, that enhanced the company's image in the eyes of young designer and furniture manufacturer audiences. To document the company's heritage while featuring relevant fabric designs that were easily navigable, and most importantly, to create a positive user's experience solution that allowed browsers to seamlessly view and apply fabrics samples stored on an existing database of hundreds of swatches.

Solution

The Beltrame Leffler Evolving Media department began by taking conventional usability, secondary research measures. Best practices were recorded, compared, and documented to develop a site map and architecture which set the foundation for interface design and site development. By collaborating with the database developer, we were able to provide a front-end solution that seamlessly pulls from a database of hundreds of fabrics for viewing and three-dimensional application to designated furniture samples. The site continues to evolve as Mayer Fabrics is providing solutions for manufacturer grade-in programs.
